Elegant Content Sharing: R.I.P. Feeds, Hello Large-Scale Content Syndication!
2013 Stanford Drupal Camp Has Ended
NOTE: This website is an archive of the 2013 Stanford Drupal Camp. The current year's Stanford Drupal Camp website is at http://drupalcamp.stanford.edu
With department / multi-site environments, you may have come across an issue with duplicate content or worse -- the mundane task copy of having to paste your article several times only to have to update it all shortly thereafter. Old legacy solutions such as feeds and feed importers are just not flexible or powerful enough for your school’s requirements.
Now get ready to say hello to modern content sharing through REST based services.
The goals of this session:
1. Introduce content syndication using a brand new set of modules.
2. Show how these new modules allow multiple websites to share the same content, and explain the theory behind successful content sharing.
3. Learn how to avoiding file duplication during the sharing process.
4. Learn how to update content once and have it updated everywhere else.
5. Learn how each site can still have control over syndicated content.
Intended Audience:
This is intended for site owners with multiple websites to manage, or anyone with a network of Drupal websites.
Questions Answered:
How can I share content to my other websites?
How do I handle content relationships?
Who has permissions over my content once it is shared?
Do I have to follow the same template on all of my websites?
What type of content sharing strategy works for me?
