Design/Theme

Stanford Sites offers an amazing platform for Stanford students, faculty and institutions at no cost.  While there is large amount of flexibility built into the platform, there is one limitation that would make most developers freeze up: NO CUSTOM CODE!

No using your favorite base theme. No writing custom modules. In fact, you can't even upload contrib modules.

In the first part of the talk we will use Stanford as a case study for how we have employed a “content first” approach to designing centrally-provided responsive themes for use across the university, and specific tools and techniques we have developed along the way.

In the second part of the talk, we will demo the features of Open Framework Drupal 7 theme and Stanford's Drupal theme stack.  We will also go over the recommended modules to use when building sites with Open Framework.

We all want to create products that are the best they can be. We’d like to eliminate all of our users’ frustration and have them talking about how amazing the experience is. In this presentation, Acquia's Christine Perfetti will share research, design, and organizational best practices that your team can use right away to see great improvements in your product’s experience.

Christine Perfetti picked up these approaches, refined them, and started using them in her daily work at companies including Acquia, Carbonite, and Cisco WebEx.
